Before AI was integrated into everything around us, our team was working on a budgeting and forecasting platform. At that particular moment, we were focusing on the database mapping feature. Both we and our competitors had a standard design approach for this feature, and we decided to conduct a short 3-day experimental design sprint, starting with an ideation workshop to come up with a new concept.
How much our understanding of design has changed since then. At that time, we were inspired by dev tools with smart suggestions that made entering commands easier. Today, that approach seems like an outdated relic because such tasks are expected to use natural human language or other AI assistance. What a leap forward!
This version didn’t make it into the final product, but the exercise was insightful, and the whole product team enjoyed it.
